For some, the period around childbirth is synonymous of vulnerability. For others, this transition to parenthood is easier. No matter how the future parents experience the period surrounding the birth, it is important to listen, because the parent’s mental health is as important as the baby’s.
The mental health of parents during pregnancy and after childbirth has a direct impact on the development of babies. Parents’ ability to interact with their baby positively, despite the emotional fragility, is essential to building a baby’s brain.
The period around childbirth is a decisive time for the parents and their baby. We have a social responsibility to make a conscious effort to be vigilant and empathetic towards all members of our community.
